G10 – Bert Kaempfert Numbers Station

Not much is known about G10, it was a numbers station known for using songs by Bert Kaempfert as its interval music.  The actual origin of it’s country is unknown, but it was most likely run by one of the Polish intelligence agencies.  It was categorized into the Polish Strich operator by ENIGMA 2000 as well.  Unlike its Strich counterparts E11, G11, S11, and S11a, it played interval music before transmissions like G02/G02a did.

G10 played two songs by Bert Kaempfert twice each; Wunderland bei Nacht and Dreaming of Blues. Instead of the typical call up / group the Strich set up was the group count and a “triplet” (ex: 32 / 222). The numbers also weren’t read singularly, (the drei zwo Strich zwo zwo zwo) but were read together with no spacing.  32/222 was read as zwounddriezig Strich zwohundertzwoundzwozig.

The station could be heard regularly for years at fixed times in the 1970’s.  The only currently know schedule was Saturdays at 13:00 UTC on 5815 kHz.  It most likely emitted in AM mode.
