Announcing Issue 5 of ENIGMA
============================

ENIGMA is the newsletter of the European Numbers Information
Gathering and Monitoring Association and is essential reading for
anyone interested in the so-called “numbers stations” prevalent on
shortwave radio.

Issue 5 is packed with news and features about the numbers station
scene including:

* 10 pages of up-to-date station news
* Detailed Station Features on:

– “The Three Note Oddity”
– “Single Letter Beacons”
– “The Counting Stations”
– The German Two-Letter Stations

* Latest transmission schedules
* Latest frequency information
* Simon Mason on the Silent Stations
* A review of the recently published book “Intercepting
Numbers Stations” from Langley Pierce.
* Letters from ENIGMA correspondents throughout the world

Also included in this issue is part 1 of our Morse Supplement – a
facet of the numbers station scene that has received little or no
coverage before. The Supplement gives detailed information concerning
the characteristics, frequencies and transmission schedules of the
Morse numbers stations.

Requests for Information
========================

We are also requesting information on the following for inclusion in
ENIGMA No.6:

– your numbers station logs
– any archive information concerning numbers stations
– information about the “Foghorn” on 4625kHz
– reports and information concerning the German Gov’t station DEA47

ENIGMA has contributors and monitors throughout the world – not just
Europe – and we are always interested in numbers stations activity in
other countries. Please send your reports to Chris at the address
above or to me via Internet e-mail (Mike Chace – mi…@praxis.co.uk).
