Example of the Use of Russian Military Radio Call Signs and Frequencies

Russian callsigns and frequencies example found document

During the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, Russian troops have abandoned weapons, armored hardware also presumably documents like these.

This document in picture shows a table of military frequencies and call signs for the 90th tank division of the Russian Armed forces. The table shows designated call signs and frequencies that are used by units subordinated to the 90th tank division. Call signs used here are widespread used among the Russian armed forces. Table shows that each unit uses three types of call signs – main, spare and reserve. The main ones should be primary used, spare is used in special situation and reserve call sign is used in situations when first two cannot no longer be used. The circularly call sign is used as general call for the entire division.

In same way the frequencies within High frequency (shortwave) are having main and spare ones. Because of high frequency propagation issues, there is day and night time frequencies. As well there is also Very High Frequencies listed for use. This means that military unit uses shortwave when in conditions needed to use them. Primary when units are located far away from each other as VHF has much lesser range.

Last entry in the document lists signal for entering communications in frequencies prepared in advance. This means that if the frequencies listed above cannot no longer be used, the units have to switch other frequencies that are not listed here, or this meant as general list of frequencies other divisions within the Russian army uses.
